Kuala lumpur: Malaysia reiterates its call for the international community to suspend Israel's membership in the United Nations (UN) and to impose comprehensive sanctions on the Zionist regime. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan emphasized this stance as he prepares to address the issue at the upcoming UN General Assembly session.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan stated that Malaysia had previously raised the matter at last year's UN General Assembly. He affirmed his commitment to repeating the call for suspending or expelling Israel from the international community. Mohamad stressed the need for sanctions that would restrict arms used against Palestinians, highlighting the urgency of imposing these measures on Israel.
Mohamad further noted that past international documents have explicitly stated the necessity of preventing Israel's intentions to occupy and destroy Gaza. He described these actions as a form of modern-day colonialism and urged the international community to no longer ignore the actions of the Zionist regime.
In response to Israel's ongoing military operations in Gaza, an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The meeting sought to coordinate the positions and actions of member states in addressing the escalating crisis. The OIC, representing 57 Muslim-majority countries, has consistently positioned itself as a defender of Palestinian rights and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
