Kuala lumpur: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has assured that the Malaysian contingent participating in the SEA Games in Thailand in 2025 has nothing to fear regarding their safety amid the border tensions between Thailand and Cambodia. He emphasized that the host cities, Bangkok and Chonburi, remain secure as the conflicts are confined to the border regions.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan conveyed this message to reporters following a ceremony where he distributed assistance and contributions at the Rembau parliamentary level. He reassured athletes and their families, stating, "National athletes at the SEA Games in Bangkok and their parents need not worry. The clashes are only at the border areas; they don't involve other areas."
The SEA Games 2025 are scheduled to take place from December 9 to 20, with the ASEAN Para Games (APG) 2025 slated for January 20 to 26, 2026. Malaysia is preparing to send a contingent comprising 1,142 athletes and 515 officials for the SEA Games, while 236 athletes and 117 officials are set to participate in the APG.
