Malaysian Haj Pilgrims Urged to Prioritize Health Amid Rising Temperatures in Saudi Arabia

Kuala lumpur: Malaysian haj pilgrims have been advised to follow the guidance of healthcare professionals and Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) personnel during their stay in the Holy Land. This advice aims to ensure that their pilgrimage is conducted smoothly and safely amid rising temperatures.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan highlighted the current temperatures in Saudi Arabia, which hover around 34 to 35 degrees Celsius, with expectations of an increase. He emphasized the importance of pilgrims maintaining their health while performing the haj, urging them to heed health advice and focus on their religious commitments.

Dr Zulkifli made these remarks during an event at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), where he launched the Islamic Media Arts Academy (ASMI) module book and course. The event was attended by USIM Pro-Chancellor Tunku Zain Al 'Abidin Tuanku Muhriz.

Meanwhile, he addressed the recent passing of a Malaysian haj pilgrim in the Holy Land, describing it as God's will. The 65-year-old pilgrim had passed the requisite health screenings. Malaysian Haj Delegation head Mohd Hisham Harun confirmed that the deceased, who was accompanied by his wife, passed away due to heart complications. TH managed the funeral arrangements, including transportation to Masjidil Haram for prayers and burial at Al Sharayea Cemetery in Makkah.

In addition, Dr Zulkifli discussed the strategic initiative of ASMI, organized by USIM and TV AlHijrah. The initiative aims to develop the talent and competencies of Islamic media practitioners. He underscored the growing significance of Islamic media as a primary source of truth and justice, especially in the context of social media's information overload.

The ASMI program, attended by 100 participants from various sectors, focuses on dakwah communication, Islamic media content production, media management, strategies for engaging diverse societal segments, and media crisis management.
