Malaysia’s Budget 2026 Unveils State-Specific Development Projects

Kuala lumpur: Budget 2026, presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Dewan Rakyat, showcases targeted development initiatives across Malaysia's states, as per the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). These projects reflect the needs and priorities highlighted by state governments following consultations with state leaders.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Penang will benefit from several infrastructure upgrades including the PLUS Traffic Dispersal Project, enhancements to the Kubang Semang Health Clinic, and improvements to water intake points and sports complexes. In Johor, the focus will be on upgrading highways and intersections, as well as replacing lifts and escalators in key buildings.

Perak's development plan includes road enhancements and the construction of a new health clinic, while Kedah will see projects like the Kulim riverbank water retention pond and the eco-friendly drainage project. Kelantan's initiatives are centered around road upgrades and sewerage treatment improvements.

In Melaka, road projects and school reconstructions are prioritized, alongside museum upgrades. Sabah's plans include a new regional sewerage treatment plant and road construction at the Malaysia-Indonesia border. Sarawak will focus on road development, health infrastructure, and agricultural empowerment programs.

Negeri Sembilan's projects feature a new PLUS Interchange and beach conservation efforts, while Pahang will see highway upgrades and new health clinics. Perlis is set for road improvements, flood control measures, and hospital staff quarters acquisition. Terengganu's initiatives include coastal erosion control and sports facility upgrades.

Selangor's focus includes flood mitigation and hospital expansion, while the Federal Territories will see river rehabilitation projects and the redevelopment of Kuala Lumpur's swimming complex. These state-specific projects are part of a broader strategy to address unique local needs and drive comprehensive development across Malaysia.
