Johor bahru: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of recognizing the government's diplomatic efforts concerning Iran and the Gaza conflict, urging that these should be celebrated rather than contested by detractors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted the government's decisive stance, notably its protest against Israeli and United States actions towards Iran, which has bolstered Malaysia's diplomatic ties. This diplomatic fortitude has facilitated Malaysian vessels' passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Anwar recounted the challenges and successes of negotiating with the Iranian President to secure this passage, contrasting the current government's achievements with those of previous administrations.
Anwar addressed attendees at the Johor Keadilan Convention, criticizing the opposition for not acknowledging his diplomatic endeavors. He expressed discontent over continual criticism regarding his meeting with former US President Donald Trump, emphasizing that his negotiations did not compromise Malaysia's interests. He recounted discussing the plight of Palestinians with Trump, stressing the humanitarian crises caused by ongoing conflicts.
Further, Anwar shared that he conveyed similar sentiments to former US President Joe Biden, condemning Western policies that he perceived as hypocritical, contributing to the oppression in Gaza. These actions, he asserted, illustrate Malaysia's commitment to reform and its willingness to address significant geopolitical issues.
Anwar also highlighted Johor's economic success as a testament to federal support. He cited projects like the revitalized Forest City, the Maharani port, and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) as evidence of fruitful federal policies. Anwar acknowledged his role in facilitating the JS-SEZ agreement through dialogues with Singaporean leadership, underscoring the federal government's commitment to Johor's growth.
He concluded by affirming the transparency of these achievements, which can be verified through historical records, noting Johor's record-breaking RM110 billion investment last year as a milestone in national history.
