Malaysia: Malaysia's February 2026 trade totalled RM245.2 billion with exports and imports of RM131 billion and RM114.2 billion, respectively. The chief statistician of the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin, said exports recorded a RM12.7 billion rise, or 10.8 per cent, year-on-year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the increase in exports was attributed to higher exports from Penang, which increased by RM21.2 billion to RM61.7 billion. Kuala Lumpur saw an improvement in exports by RM198.1 million to RM4.7 billion, while Perak's exports grew by RM108.1 million to RM3.1 billion. However, exports fell in Selangor by RM3.4 billion to RM26.9 billion, in Sarawak by RM1.1 billion to RM7.7 billion, and in Melaka by RM928.2 million to RM1.8 billion. Sabah's exports also fell by RM743.7 million to RM1.8 billion.

Mohd Uzir reported that other states experienced a decrease in exports, including Kedah, which fell by RM682.1 million to RM3.2 billion. Pahang's exports decreased by RM505.9 million to RM1.5 billion, and Negeri Sembilan's exports slipped by RM442.0 million to RM1.5 billion. Kelantan's exports fell by RM225.3 million to RM300 million, Johor's exports slipped by RM197 million to RM23.2 billion, and Labuan reduced by RM191.9 million to RM400 million. Terengganu saw a reduction of RM98.0 million in shipments to RM1.2 billion, and Perlis's exports fell by RM14 million to RM100 million.

Penang remained the top exporter with a 47.1 per cent share, followed by Johor with 17.7 per cent, Selangor with 13.8 per cent, Sarawak with 5.9 per cent, and Kuala Lumpur with 3.6 per cent of total exports.

Elaborating on the import performance, Mohd Uzir Mahidin noted that imports in February 2026 increased by RM8.6 billion (8.2 per cent) compared to the same month in 2025. The increase in imports was due to higher imports in most states, such as Penang, whose incoming shipments rose by RM9.3 billion to RM33.5 billion. Kedah added RM1.2 billion to RM6.1 billion, and Kuala Lumpur climbed by RM1 billion to RM9.6 billion.

Negeri Sembilan imports were RM255.4 million higher at RM3.0 billion, while Labuan rose by RM140.4 million to RM300 million, and Perak increased by RM35.9 million to RM3.0 billion. Terengganu's imports were RM6.8 million higher at RM400 million, and Perlis added RM5.0 million to its import bill to RM100 million.

However, imports decreased in Melaka by RM1.1 billion to RM2.4 billion, Sarawak by RM645.3 million, Selangor by RM519.8 million, Pahang by RM472.2 million, Sabah by RM66.0 million, Johor by RM51.4 million, and Kelantan by RM25.5 million.

Penang dominated Malaysia's imports with a share of 29.3 per cent, followed by Selangor with 23.5 per cent, Johor with 21.7 per cent, Kuala Lumpur with 8.4 per cent, and Kedah with 5.4 per cent.
