Miri: Police have detained a 33-year-old suspect and confiscated drugs valued at over RM630,000 during two separate raids conducted in Miri on April 5.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah reported that the initial raid took place in Desa Murni, Bandar Baru Permyjaya. This operation resulted in the apprehension of the suspect and the seizure of drugs suspected to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), with an estimated weight of 150 grammes.
Following intelligence gathered from the suspect, a second raid was executed at a residence in Lorong Murni, Desa Murni. During this operation, police seized additional drugs believed to be MDMA, weighing approximately 3.37 kilogrammes. The total confiscated drugs have an estimated street value of RM634,687.50 and could potentially impact around 4,010 individuals.
Mohd Farhan stated that the ongoing investigation falls under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Efforts are underway to locate remaining members of the syndicate to ensure the complete dismantlement of the network.
