Petrosains Enhances Media Collaboration for STEM Edu-Tourism in Malaysia

Kuala lumpur: Petrosains Sdn Bhd (Petrosains) is strengthening its partnerships with the media to enhance collaboration and amplify the role of knowledge, education, and storytelling in nation-building, in line with Visit Malaysia 2026. Through its strategic media engagement titled 'A Memorable Experience with Petrosains' held yesterday, the organisation highlighted how its Discovery Centre and the Petronas Twin Towers SkyXperience are evolving beyond visitor attractions into a dynamic ecosystem at the intersection of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and edu-tourism.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Petrosains emphasized that both offerings support national aspirations such as Visit Malaysia 2026 by providing immersive, accessible, and engaging experiences. During the engagement, media partners were taken on a guided journey through Petrosains and the Petronas Twin Towers SkyXperience, exploring the latest offerings and gaining deeper insights into the stories behind one of Malaysia's most iconic landmarks.

Highlights at Petrosains include Veloclimb at the SPEED area, an interactive climbing experience that combines physical movement with digital engagement, and Hello AI at the Sparkz area, which introduces visitors to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence (AI) in an engaging and accessible way. Media partners also experienced the Sustainability Gallery, featuring immersive zones such as Ecofarm, Ecofood, Ecohome, Ecotransport, Ecopledges, and Ecohorizon, where visitors can explore sustainable living up close, including urban farming and harvesting fresh vegetables.

Petrosains showcased a seamless blend of interactive exploration, compelling storytelling, and panoramic city views, reflecting Malaysia's progress in innovation, discovery, and excellence. The Petronas Twin Towers SkyXperience has strengthened its global positioning through its inclusion into the World Federation of Great Towers, reinforcing Malaysia's standing among globally recognized architectural landmarks.

Beyond its physical spaces, Petrosains extends its impact nationwide through initiatives like Petrosains Tech4All, Petrosains PlaySmart, and the Petrosains Discovery Rover, reaching communities beyond the Klang Valley, including Sabah, Sarawak, Johor, and Pahang, bringing STEM learning opportunities to underserved and indigenous communities across Malaysia. Petrosains PlaySmart serves as a satellite centre concept, creating accessible, community-based spaces where students can experience hands-on, interactive STEM learning closer to home. Complementing this, the Petrosains Discovery Rover, a mobile STEM outreach unit, travels to remote and rural areas, delivering engaging science experiences directly to schools and communities that may otherwise have limited access.

Petrosains Stakeholder Relations and Communications Director Shamini Balan remarked that the gathering marked a meaningful milestone, serving as a platform to express appreciation and as a renewed call to strengthen partnership with the media, whose role remains integral in translating education-led initiatives into impactful national narratives. She thanked media partners for their continued support and coverage, which has helped transform programmes into stories that reach far beyond immediate audiences.

As Petrosains looks ahead to upcoming activations aligned to Visit Malaysia 2026, the organisation remains committed to working closely with media partners to increase visibility, deepen engagement, and bring science-led stories to wider audiences.
