Kuala lumpur: Maxis Berhad (Maxis), in partnership with the Centre for Foundation Studies in Science, Universiti Malaya (PASUM), recently held a STEM camp aimed at secondary school students participating in the Maxis eKelas Menuju Gemilang 2025 programme. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance educational opportunities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 18-month programme, which began last July in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (KPM), is designed to support high-potential students in excelling in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination and pursuing higher education. The recent STEM camp saw the participation of 85 Form Four students from various secondary schools in the Klang Valley, chosen for their academic achievements, co-curricular participation, and leadership skills.
Azizul Abdul Rahman, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Maxis, emphasized that the collaboration aims to inspire students and enhance their co-curricular growth, aligning with Maxis' brand promise, 'Tomorrow Starts Today'. "We hope this programme can provide them with the necessary guidance and confidence to take the next step in their academic journey," he stated.
Prof Dr Farazila Yusof, Executive Director of PASUM, remarked that the initiative aligns with PASUM's mission to advance education and cultivate a generation of innovators who can contribute to national development. The programme featured workshops on topics such as DNA extraction, skin lotion making, and artificial intelligence, as well as a chemical treasure hunt and a spaghetti tower challenge.
Participants also had the opportunity to explore the university campus and engage in discussions with Maxis and PASUM representatives about academic pathways, career development, and building self-confidence.
