Baku:The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) aims to enhance the reliability of essential services by working closely with relevant agencies and industry stakeholders. This effort will focus on improving the interoperability of technologies and systems, ensuring that services such as communications, electricity, and water supply operate more safely, reliably, and efficiently.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MCMC emphasized the importance of strengthening technical standards as essential services increasingly rely on digital technologies and interconnected systems. Disruptions in one system can affect other services and people's daily lives.
In light of these challenges, MCMC hosted the Seminar on Enabling Intelligent and Resilient Utilities through Standards at its Centre of Excellence, marking World Standards Day 2026. The seminar introduced MCMC's Framework for Technical Standards Governance, which aims to enhance planning, coordination, and development of technical standards in the communications and multimedia sector, aligned with technological advancements and industry needs.
The event gathered representatives from regulatory agencies, standards development organizations, industry players, local authorities, and academia to discuss the coordination of technical standards across various sectors, including communications, energy, water, and infrastructure development.
