Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's (MCMC) mobile application, MCMC NEXUS, has received the Digital Inclusion Award (Special Mention) at the Malaysia Digital Transformation Awards 2025.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the award was presented during GovInsider Live MY.AI Day in recognition of the app's role in empowering Malaysians with transparent access to information on internet service quality. The MCMC NEXUS is a user-friendly mobile application that allows Malaysians to check the quality of their internet services and provides real-time, crowd-sourced insights to help users better understand their connectivity experience.
The data gathered through the app enables MCMC and service providers to identify areas that may require improvement, supporting more targeted and effective enhancements to nationwide digital connectivity. The application allows users to test their experience on 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi networks, measuring key metrics such as download and upload speeds, ping, and jitter.
Test results that fall below the Mandatory Standard for the Quality of Service (MSQoS) are sent in near real-time to MCMC and the respective service providers. The Data Experience Test also evaluates user experience during internet usage, including activities such as web browsing and online gaming. The app's integration with the JENDELA Map further enhances its function as a practical, on-the-ground complement to national connectivity initiatives.
MCMC stated that the recognition highlights the importance of ensuring that all Malaysians, regardless of location, income, or background, have equitable access to essential online services.
