Melaka: The Melaka government has reiterated its pledge to serve all communities without discrimination, ensuring that the welfare and needs of every group are continuously addressed. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh emphasized this dedication during the 14th series of the Chief Minister Sayang Rakyat tour in the Machap Jaya state constituency, which aimed to deliver over 15 forms of aid and initiatives directly to residents.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Chief Minister highlighted that the 'on-the-ground' approach of the Melaka Sayang Rakyat (MeSRa) administration is integral in transforming their mandate into concrete actions and results that benefit the populace. "What matters more is not the number of aid programmes or the size of the allocations announced, but the extent to which every ringgit spent actually reaches the people," he stated to reporters at the event hosted at Felda Tun Ghafar Menggong. The event also saw the presence of State Health, Human Resources and Unity Committee chairman Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem, who is the Machap Jaya assemblyman.
In his earlier address, Ab Rauf detailed that the assistance provided included a new house valued at RM70,000 under the Melaka Rumahku initiative, along with 26 types of housing assistance totaling RM649,000 for 25 families in the Machap Jaya constituency. Contributions were also extended to individuals in need, the Orang Asli community, educational institutions, places of worship, agencies, and community organizations. Furthermore, 1,600 bags of rice were distributed for free to the residents of Machap Jaya.
The program also aimed to improve access to healthcare services by offering free health screenings, conducted in collaboration with the Melaka State Health Department and participating private clinics. Ab Rauf underscored that this direct engagement with the public has been a consistent practice since his leadership began, stressing that the state government should proactively meet the people to better understand and address their needs.
"We received our mandate from the people, we return to serve the people, and it is for the people that we drive all these efforts," he remarked.
