Melaka: The departure of a small number of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) members to join other political entities does not undermine the party's stability or operations, said Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Muhammad Kamil Ahmad Munim. He stated that although some individuals have opted to leave the party, citing a loss of confidence, the youth wing respects these decisions as personal choices.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Kamil mentioned that, despite the departures, the impact is minimal and does not interfere with the party's operations. "I am not sure of the exact percentage, but based on our reports and figures, the number is insignificant and does not affect the organisation's operations in the slightest. Today, we can see that the party continues to strengthen, while the high turnout of delegates demonstrates their commitment and determination to remain with PKR," he remarked during a press conference at the 2026 AMK National Congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC).
Muhammad Kamil was addressing claims made by Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) co-founder Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli that approximately 25 percent of the new party's membership consisted of former PKR members. On the subject of PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar, who is currently on leave, he clarified that this situation has not impeded the party's progress.
He assured that party operations are maintained through a clear division of responsibilities, with roles being fulfilled by vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Abdullah and PKR election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. "I do not feel it hinders our efforts to continue strengthening the organisation and preparing for the state election (PRN) and general election (PRU), as the division of duties has been clearly defined. Explanations have also been provided to the grassroots by state and branch-level leadership, and members have accepted the decision with an open mind. The focus now is on continuing to strengthen and empower the organisation," he concluded.
