Mengkibol Mission: Chu Poh Yee Champions A Three-pronged Agenda

Kluang: Young lawyer and Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Mengkibol state seat, Chu Poh Yee, is campaigning on a three-pronged agenda comprising infrastructure transformation, domestic economic empowerment, and community welfare as her key priorities if given the mandate in the upcoming Johor state election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chu emphasized the importance of upgrading basic infrastructure, including improving road quality, and expanding community farming initiatives through urban agriculture projects to enhance the well-being of local residents.

On the economic front, Chu described Kluang's business ecosystem as having significant potential for further growth. She aims to achieve this through the creation of more open entrepreneurship platforms and quality employment opportunities, which she believes will help curb youth migration.

Chu highlighted that Kluang's economy is on the right track, citing creative tourism events such as the Kluang Rail Festival as examples that generate positive spillover benefits for the local community.

Moreover, Chu is committed to strengthening the role of women in the workforce. She advocates for a balanced work environment that enables women to manage both their careers and family responsibilities without undue pressure. One of her key initiatives includes providing well-equipped and conducive childcare centres to help ease the burden on working parents.

Despite facing challenges during the campaign, including incidents of provocation and vandalism of campaign materials, Chu remains resolute. She stated that her campaign team is steadfast and determined to continue fighting for Kluang's future.

The Mengkibol state seat is one of 14 constituencies witnessing a straight fight in this Johor state election, with Chu set to face Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Yap Zhi Peng. The Johor state election features a total of 172 candidates contesting 56 state seats, with polling day scheduled for July 11 and early voting on July 7.
