Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) continues to support investments that introduce cutting-edge technology and enhance the skills and quality of the local workforce to keep Malaysia globally competitive. Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said Dyson Malaysia, for example, has grown from just 10 employees in 2000 to 1,400 today, with Malaysians making up 98 percent of its workforce.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, of the 23 top management positions at Dyson Malaysia, 20 are held by Malaysians, and these roles extend beyond local operations to the company’s global activities. Tengku Zafrul highlighted this in a video posted on his X page, emphasizing the significant role Malaysians play in the company’s global reach.
Tengku Zafrul stated that jobs at Dyson Malaysia extend beyond product manufacturing and include research and development (R and D). The 35,000-square-metre Global Development Campus in Johor is one of Dyson’s largest worldwide. It serves as a world-class R and D center with 22 laboratories and facilities dedicated to testing Dyson prototypes.
To further develop local talent, Dyson Malaysia collaborates with Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology (CREST), an agency under MITI. This partnership aims to enhance the skill set of the Malaysian workforce, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of technological advancements and innovation.
