Mohd Na’im Advocates for YAPEIM Building to Reflect Economic Development Role

Putrajaya: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar has put forward a proposal for the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YAPEIM) to have a dedicated building named after it, highlighting its enduring role in bolstering the economic development of the Muslim community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Na’im shared that he had discussed this proposal with Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president, Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud, last month and received a positive response. During the officiation of the Ochre@Alamanda building, discussions were held regarding the potential renaming of the building to Menara or Wisma YAPEIM. Fadlun expressed agreement in principle, although formal procedures are expected to take some time.

Established in October 1976, YAPEIM is one of 14 agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs). It plays a significant role in supporting the welfare of the ummah, focusing on economic empowerment, educational assistance, and community support.

In his speech, Mohd Na’im conveyed his aspiration for YAPEIM’s future headquarters to inspire and motivate its leadership and staff towards achieving greater service excellence. He emphasized the importance of YAPEIM’s mission to assist communities in need through programs that address contemporary challenges and provide effective solutions.

YAPEIM’s recent initiatives include the allocation of RM1.2 million to aid 7,700 students in need through its MADANI Ramadan programs across over 20 locations nationwide. Beneficiaries, particularly from low-income families and the B40 group, received a RM100 cash contribution, supporting students from higher education institutions and schools.
