Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Transport (MOT) is intensifying its efforts to support the aviation industry through active discussions with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). Minister Anthony Loke announced that an engagement session with industry stakeholders is scheduled for next week to address measures in response to the global energy crisis.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Loke has been in communication with CAAM and has held discussions with MAHB over the past two weeks. These ongoing engagements aim to outline strategies to ensure the sustainability of the aviation sector. Loke emphasized the need for increased public transport usage, particularly in Peninsular Malaysia, as a response to the crisis.
Loke highlighted the government's significant investments in rail infrastructure, which are anticipated to provide long-term public benefits. He noted that a behavioral shift towards public transport and electric vehicles (EVs) is expected. The MOT is committed to ensuring that the public transport system operates efficiently, reliably, and comfortably.
In related news, Loke stated that road safety remains a priority for the ministry. He stressed the importance of implementing stricter measures and providing quicker responses to reduce road accidents, especially those related to alcohol and drug use. Loke acknowledged the seriousness of the issue, which claims lives and garners public attention, and affirmed MOT's commitment to strengthening safety measures and reviewing legal amendments.
