MPKB-BRI To Crack Down On Vape Sales

Kota bharu: The Kota Bharu Islamic City Municipal Council (MPKB-BRI) has warned that action will be taken against premises found selling vape products. Its president, Azi Rahimee Mohamad, emphasized that no business licenses have been issued for the sale of such products since 2013, and enforcement will be conducted in alignment with the state government's stance.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azi Rahimee Mohamad stated that for individual use, MPKB-BRI has no authority as it falls under the jurisdiction of the Health Department, similar to enforcement on smoking in designated areas. He mentioned this after officiating the council's National Month Appreciation Ceremony at Dataran Bandaraya. He further noted that MPKB-BRI, through its Licensing and Enforcement divisions, will continue regular operations to curb unlicensed sales.

Premises repeatedly caught selling vape will face stern action, including license revocation and closure. Azi Rahimee acknowledged the ongoing issue of illegal sales, particularly through online platforms, which operate outside the jurisdiction of local authorities.
