MyCARE Pressures Israel for Implementation of Peace Plan with Hamas

Kuala lumpur: Malaysian humanitarian organisation, Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE), will continue to play an active role in pressuring Israel to implement the recently agreed peace plan with Hamas. MyCARE chief executive officer Kamarul Zaman Shaharul Anwar stated that the organisation will closely monitor developments on the matter.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kamarul Zaman expressed concerns over Israel's history of overruling agreements, even those made at the United Nations level. He emphasized the importance of vigilance in ensuring the peace plan's success. He made these remarks during a homecoming ceremony for nine Malaysian activists who participated in the Freedom Flotilla Coalition - Thousand Madleens to Gaza (FFC x TMTG) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Kamarul Zaman mentioned that MyCARE is preparing to deliver aid to Gaza following the peace plan, with strategic partners assessing the needs of the people there. He highlighted the opportunity presented by United States President Donald Trump's presence at the 47th ASEAN Summit for ASEAN nations, including Malaysia, to push for adherence to the peace plan.

International media reported that Trump announced Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of the Gaza peace plan proposed by the United States. Indirect talks between Israel and Hamas have been taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, discussing Trump's plan to end the conflict, which includes a 20-point outline for peace.

Dr Fauziah Mohd Hassan, a Malaysian activist from the FFC x TMTG mission, remarked on the impact of sustained pressure from global communities. She noted that despite appearances, the flotilla mission coincided with a ceasefire, suggesting international pressure may have played a role.

The FFC x TMTG mission involved around 150 activists from 25 countries. Their vessels, including the Conscience and Umm Saad, were intercepted by Israeli forces and redirected to Ashdod Port. The activists were detained and later transferred to Ketziot prison in Negev, Israel, before returning to Malaysia.
