MyLesen Class B2 Licence Not Free Pass To Become ‘King Of The Road’

Sibu: Participants of the MyLesen Class B2 Driving Licence Assistance programme are cautioned that possessing the licence is not a free pass to become 'king of the road' or engage in illegal street racing. Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) deputy director Nor Azlan Ibrahim emphasized that participants should utilize the programme to become disciplined, ethical, and safety-conscious motorcyclists.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nor Azlan reminded young licence holders that the licence symbolizes a confidence entrusted by the nation and is a recognition to be on the road legally. He warned against reckless riding, stressing that the licence is not a ticket for illegal racing, riding illegally modified motorcycles, or neglecting road tax responsibilities. "We don't want those given this opportunity to end up ruining their lives," he mentioned during the closing ceremony of the programme for the 2025 Nangka state constituency at Dewan Universiti Teknologi Sarawak, Sibu.

Nor Azlan cautioned that the licence should not be abused for dangerous activities, which offer only momentary excitement with the risk of serious injury, loss of life, or legal repercussions. He reinforced this by citing RTD director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli's firm stance that MyLesen Class B2 holders involved in illegal racing will have their licences revoked. "Engines can be modified, but the law cannot be bent. You can rev the throttle, but speed limits must be respected. Roads are not racing circuits, they are paths to sustain life, not places to end it," he asserted.

He advised participants to use their licences responsibly for conducting their daily activities and those of their families. The programme, which was aimed at the B40 group in the Nangka state constituency, drew 1,114 participants. The event was officiated by the Sarawak Premier's political secretary, Sayed Azmee Wan Junaidi, representing Nangka assemblyman, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is also Sarawak's Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development.
