MyMall Platform Achieves RM24.3 Million in Sales with 3,407 Vendors

Kuala lumpur: The MyMall digital sales platform has achieved a total sales value of RM24.3 million, engaging 3,407 registered vendors as of July 31, announced Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) Datuk Seri R. Ramanan. This performance reflects a substantial increase, with sales rising by RM15 million in the first seven months of this year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ramanan emphasized the importance of micro, small, and medium enterprises (PMKS) joining MyMall to benefit from its free marketing opportunities. This initiative by KUSKOP aims to assist entrepreneurs in managing the challenges of rising living costs while expanding their businesses online at no cost.

Ramanan addressed the question from Lee Chuan How (PH-Ipoh Timor) regarding the ministry's strategies to protect entrepreneurs from cost pressures, especially in light of increased commission fees on major e-commerce platforms like Shopee, TikTok, and Lazada. He highlighted several initiatives by KUSKOP, including the EmpowerPKK programme, the TikTok Shop Live Hub developed in collaboration with TikTok Malaysia and Tekun Nasional, and the BizClinic service offered by the National Entrepreneurial Institute (INSKEN) to support entrepreneurs.

He further explained that KUSKOP is working with other agencies such as the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to protect the interests of PMKS entrepreneurs. Ramanan mentioned that KPDN is reviewing e-commerce regulations to ensure comprehensive oversight of online businesses.

Additionally, the Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) is examining the digital economy ecosystem under the Competition Act to ensure that no entity can arbitrarily increase costs without proper regulation. This was in response to Lee's supplementary question about legal measures to protect PMKS entrepreneurs, given the increasing presence of foreign sellers, suppliers, and direct shippers in the market.
