Kuala lumpur: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke emphasized that election campaigns should concentrate on the policies and proposals that political parties plan to offer to the electorate, rather than engaging in personal attacks. He noted that he has refrained from launching personal attacks against any Cabinet member during the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election campaign period.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Loke articulated the need to campaign based on party offerings and clarify their positions. He stressed his decision not to attack any leaders or raise issues, particularly those involving Cabinet ministers, as they are his colleagues in the Cabinet. Loke, who also serves as Transport Minister, explained that these individuals meet weekly at Cabinet meetings and share many responsibilities that require collaborative efforts.
Loke highlighted that his approach aligns with the advice from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who urged government officials to maintain discipline and avoid attacking the Federal Government while campaigning. He mentioned his decision not to campaign in the Rantau state constituency, contested by Foreign Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, to maintain harmony within the Unity Government.
Instead, Loke has directed his efforts towards the Chennah seat, where he is a candidate, as well as other seats contested by DAP candidates. He is also supporting Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun in his campaign for the Linggi seat. Loke mentioned that his role as Transport Minister is advantageous for Chennah, countering claims of neglect due to his Cabinet responsibilities.
He explained that as a minister, he can facilitate more benefits for Chennah residents, including allocations for Kampung MADANI projects. He emphasized the importance of his contributions to the constituency and noted that he has a dedicated full-time team to manage and assist the residents effectively. Early voting for the state election is scheduled for July 28, with polling day set for August 1.
