Kuala krai: The Ministry of Works has directed the contractor to expedite the Sungai Durian Bridge Replacement Project in Kuala Krai after finding that it remains behind schedule despite having been granted six Extensions of Time. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the directive was conveyed to the contractor during his surprise visit to the project site to personally assess its progress.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nanta stated that the delay was partly due to borepile installation works being affected by existing utility pipelines, as well as issues involving the temporary support structure for the steel bridge. "However, this delay cannot continue," he emphasized in a statement posted on his official Facebook page yesterday.
Nanta also mentioned that he had instructed the contractor to deploy additional resources at the site, expedite the construction works, and resolve all technical issues promptly in collaboration with the Public Works Department. He underscored that the public had waited far too long for the project to be completed and stressed the importance of adhering to the current schedule.
"I will not compromise on any delays caused by weaknesses in project implementation. The Ministry of Works and the Public Works Department will continue to closely monitor the project until it is completed and can benefit the people," Nanta affirmed.
