Petaling jaya: The General Operations Force (GOF) arrested 4,007 individuals and recorded RM1.13 billion in seizures in 2,866 cases throughout the country in the first six months of this year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (JKDNKA) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri stated that the newest operation conducted was Op Intra/Inter (Ops Block Chain/Cryptocurrency) in Petaling Jaya, Selangor from July 14 to 15. The operation, in cooperation with the Inland Revenue Board, aimed to curb activities suspected of involving leakages of the country's revenue and financial transactions linked to cryptocurrencies.
Investigations were conducted under Section 112 and 113 of the Income Tax Act 1967 and Section 4 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, Anti-Restricted Activity Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. "This operation is a manifestation of the continued commitment to strengthening inter-agency enforcement to ensure all forms of financial crime and tax evasion can be curbed completely and effectively," Mohd Yusri said in a statement today.
He further mentioned that they would continue to strengthen strategic partnerships with enforcement and taxation agencies to curb financial crime impacting the national economy and ensure national revenue. He also urged the public to continue to channel information on suspicious activities to the authorities to help curb crime and protect national interests.
