Negeri Sembilan Advocates for Relocation of HPUSIM to Nilai

Negeri sembilan: The Negeri Sembilan government has formally appealed to the Federal government to reconsider the location for the construction of the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (HPUSIM) Teaching Hospital, advocating for it to be situated closer to the university in Nilai.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun emphasized that it would be strategically beneficial to construct the hospital in Nilai, given that USIM is based there and the university has already pinpointed a potential project site. This request comes in light of several previous applications regarding the matter.

HPUSIM is currently slated for construction in Kota Tinggi, Johor. However, Aminuddin Harun has raised concerns about the distance from USIM, suggesting that the hospital would be advantageous not only for the university but also for medical teaching staff. He highlighted the importance of the hospital in enhancing teaching and learning experiences and reducing the need for faculty to travel long distances.

Kota Tinggi MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has previously mentioned that the HPUSIM project in Mukim Sedili could serve as a major catalyst for development within the Kota Tinggi parliamentary constituency. As the Minister of Defence, Mohamed Khaled noted that the project is still under planning and review, with aspects such as cost determination and contractor selection being considered.
