New Schools and Cabin Buildings to Address Student Density in Selangor and Johor

Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) has identified several initiatives to overcome the issue of student density, following the increase in the enrolment of Year One and Form One students, especially in Selangor and Johor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MOE director-general Azman Adnan stated that to address the issue of student density, the methods taken included building new schools, constructing cabin buildings, and dispersing students to nearby schools. This year, two new schools have begun operating in Selangor, with more expected to open in stages throughout the year. MOE is also constructing cabin buildings in schools where necessary, as these structures can be completed in just three months.

Azman emphasized the third step, which involves the dispersal of densely populated schools to nearby institutions. He noted that the ministry would continuously assess the need for improvements to ensure that the issue of overcrowded schools is adequately addressed. He highlighted the success of constructing cabin buildings at Sekolah Kebangsaan Cyberjaya in Selangor as an effective measure to alleviate student density.

He further mentioned that there is currently no issue of student density in Negeri Sembilan, with the concerns mainly concentrated in Selangor and Johor, particularly in large housing estates and industrial areas. The media reported that 17 new schools are expected to start operating this year, including eight primary and nine secondary schools.
