He said students, teachers and all parties must work together to reject bullying and the culture of insulting and belittling others.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized his firm stance on the issue, stating, "There is no place in our schools for people who are arrogant, who bully others simply because they are a little stronger." He acknowledged the presence of such behaviour in schools and reminded students, teachers, and lecturers not to tolerate it. The Prime Minister was speaking at a Temu Anwar Bersama Pelajar session during the Sahabat MADANI Ambang Merdeka Programme at the Teachers Education Institute, Tuanku Bainun campus, with Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek also in attendance.

Anwar remarked that allowing a culture of bullying to persist could impact the character development of young people and, consequently, the country's future. He urged for an end to bullying, insulting, and abusive behaviour in schools to prevent such attitudes from being carried into adulthood, particularly by future leaders. He cautioned against labelling the entire school community negatively due to the actions of a few students involved in bullying.

"Sometimes we read about a school with 1,000 students, but only four are seriously involved in bullying. The media reports on the four and not on the many others," Anwar noted. He called for schools to cultivate a culture based on discipline, mutual respect, and the rejection of discrimination or insults based on skin colour.

Anwar highlighted the importance of education in nurturing individuals with good manners and strong moral values, in addition to producing academically outstanding students. This, he said, would ensure national progress aligns with humanity.

Reflecting on his tenure as Education Minister from 1987 to 1990, Anwar recalled his decision to relocate a proposed teachers' college from Penang Island to Seberang Perai, resulting in the development of the current Tuanku Bainun Teachers Education Institute campus. During his visit to Penang, he explained that Seberang Perai had a greater need for a teachers' college, as Penang already had Universiti Sains Malaysia and another college at the time.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, announced that the government had agreed to allocate RM200,000 for maintenance works at the campus.
