No Toll Paid For Petronas Vessels To Transit Strait Of Hormuz, Says Fahmi

Kuala lumpur: The government has stressed that Malaysia does not pay any toll for Petronas vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, dismissing claims circulating on social media. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the matter was presented by Petronas and reviewed during the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting yesterday, which found that the information circulating likely stemmed from public misunderstanding of certain news headlines.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, several Petronas vessels are still en route and currently queuing to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. At this point, no toll is being paid as claimed. Fahmi explained that the misinformation might have originated from headlines that were misinterpreted by netizens, but assured that the situation remains under control.

Commenting on the spread of false graphics related to fuel prices, Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesman, stated that official weekly announcements for RON95, RON97 and diesel prices are made only by the Ministry of Finance every Wednesday. Usually, the information is published after 6 pm every Wednesday. Apart from official announcements by the Ministry of Finance, any other graphics or information being circulated are confirmed to be untrue or false.
