Kuala Lumpur:National qariah Nur Syakura Mohamad Musa impressed the audience with her melodious recitation on the third night of the 66th International Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nur Syakura, a Quran Teacher Supervisor at the Sarawak Islamic Council, delivered a polished recitation of verses from Surah Hud with a precise tarannum style and tajwid. Her performance was noted for its calmness and confidence.
The 2026 National Quran Recitation champion faced strong competition from international participants, including Brunei's Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana Pengiran Marjuki, who also captivated the audience with her melodious recitation.
The evening session featured six qaris: Muhammad Fauji Ridwan from Indonesia, Furkan Cinar from Turkiye, Mstafa Abdlsada Hashim from Iraq, Seyed Sadegh Seyed Ali Moslemi Alamshiri from Iran, Mohammad Mahmoud Khalil Dabash from Jordan, and Inam Ul Haq from Pakistan.
Earlier, during the morning session, eight participants in the Memorisation category completed their recitations. This group included Malaysian representatives Muhammad Izzul Afnan Sazali and Dina Hadfina Mohd Umarul Hisyam.
The 66th MTHQA, themed 'Madani Dihayati Ummah Diberkati', is being held from October 6 to 10, with 50 participants from 38 countries, comprising 25 Quran recitation participants and 25 Quran memorisation participants.
