Sarawak: The Sarawak Brigade General Operations Force (GOF), in conjunction with several enforcement agencies, executed 10 raids under Op Hazard 3.0 at various locations across Sarawak yesterday, seizing items worth RM1.82 million.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sarawak Brigade commander SAC Lim Bak Phai disclosed that the raids targeted areas in Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri. The operation resulted in the detention of 12 individuals, including two foreigners. These individuals are suspected of participating in the collection and processing of electronic waste without the necessary licenses and legal compliance.
The seized items comprised a range of e-waste components, including electrical wires, cables, electronic parts, used batteries, tyres, and processing equipment. Vehicles and containers believed to be used in these illicit activities were also confiscated. Lim emphasized that the operation aimed to address illegal e-waste management practices that pose risks to the environment and public safety.
He asserted that stringent measures would be enforced against those involved in these unlawful activities. The detainees and confiscated items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action in line with respective legal jurisdictions. Lim reiterated that the Sarawak GOF brigade remains committed to conducting operations through strategic partnerships with relevant departments and agencies.
