Sungai Siput: An Orang Asli man is feared drowned while fishing in a river at Kampung Kuala Chenein, Lasah, near Sungai Siput yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, stated that the department received an emergency call at 9.34 pm. This prompted the immediate deployment of personnel from the Sungai Siput, Kuala Kangsar, and Ipoh Fire and Rescue Stations (BBPs) to the scene.
The victim, identified as Amran Ahin, 43, was reportedly swept away by strong currents while fishing in the river with his younger brother. The search operation, which resumed this morning at 8, is concentrated on a one-kilometre radius from the location where the victim is believed to have gone missing.
The search and rescue team has been divided into several groups, with support from other agencies and members of the public to assist in the operation.
