Over 140,000 Tourists Arrive in Melaka via Luxury Cruises

Melaka: Over 143,000 tourists arrived in Melaka via luxury cruise ships between November last year and October, as announced by state Tourism, Heritage, Arts, and Culture Exco Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the tourists arrived aboard six luxury cruise ships, including the Genting Dream Cruise, Seven Sea Voyager Cruise, Riviera Cruise, Star Voyager Cruise, Regatta Cruise, and Nautica Cruise. Records from the Tourism Promotion Division (BBP) of the Melaka Chief Minister's Department indicate a total of 249,829 tourists boarded luxury cruise ships to Melaka, with 143,218 disembarking at the Melaka Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex. These details were shared during the Melaka State Legislative Assembly session at the Seri Negeri Complex.

In response to a question from Low Chee Leong (PH-Kota Laksamana) regarding monthly tourist landings from luxury cruise ships since 2024, Abdul Razak provided insights into the ongoing construction of the Cruise Terminal on Pulau Melaka. The development work has progressed, with physical progress marked at around five percent. A total of 60 piles have been installed, signifying the beginning of the terminal's basic structure development. The state government remains firm on enforcing compliance, ensuring that any company failing to meet its obligations will face appropriate actions.
