Melaka: The National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day 2025 is set to draw over 150,000 visitors, offering more than 5,000 job opportunities through career matches with employers from strategic sectors, announced Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The Deputy Prime Minister shared this information following the Special Coordination Meeting for the event.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the celebration will gather participation from government agencies, TVET institutions, industries, and the public, with the goal of directly impacting human capital development and job availability. The three-day event commences tomorrow at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh, with an official launch by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim scheduled for Thursday.
The official launch on June 12 will feature key announcements on strengthening the national TVET agenda, focusing on increasing TVET graduates' participation in high-impact entrepreneurship sectors. This initiative aims to enhance TVET's role in boosting growth in promising sectors, as stated by Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development.
With the theme "TVET: The Career of Choice," the event underscores the MADANI government's commitment to establishing TVET as a national development pillar, aligning with Malaysia MADANI's aspirations for a progressive and inclusive nation. The event promises comprehensive and impactful activities designed to engage the public with the TVET sector.
The National TVET Day 2025 will feature four main segments: the TVET Convention Hub, TVET Job Fair, and TVET Challenge. Ahmad Zahid anticipates a positive atmosphere, reflecting growing public interest in TVET courses, with 140,000 applications received via the TVET Admissions Unit (UPTVET).
In conjunction with the celebration, Malaysia will host the 4th ASEAN TVET Council Regional Policy Dialogue, themed "TVET for Rural and Regional Development," on Wednesday and Thursday. National TVET Day, observed on June 2 each year, represents the government's dedication to making TVET a key platform for cultivating a skilled and competitive workforce.
