Melaka: The Melaka government, through the Melaka Housing Board (LPM), has successfully repaired 136 houses and constructed 77 new ones, investing more than RM7.8 million under the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme across all 28 state constituencies over the past two years.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh noted that over 84 projects have been implemented during this period, with a combined allocation and assistance of RM4.2 million from the Melaka District and Land Office. Additionally, 2,300 recipients have benefited from direct assistance totaling RM345,000 from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) under the WRUR programme across the 28 state constituencies.
The Chief Minister highlighted the implementation of 1,981 programmes and activities, which attracted nearly 100,000 attendees throughout the WRUR programme in Melaka. He shared these updates while addressing reporters at the closing ceremony of the Melaka WRUR programme, the Tanjung Bidara Beach Festival, and the Melaka Straits and River Arts Festival (FSSSM) 2026.
Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, who also serves as the Tanjung Bidara State Assemblyman, revealed that during his three-year tenure leading the Melaka government, 212 development projects worth RM41.16 million have been executed in the constituency. These projects include significant repair and upgrading works at facilities such as the Masjid Tanah Health Clinic, costing nearly RM800,000, and a RM1.3 million project to install a suction tank and pump connected to the existing Tanjung Bidara tank.
Furthermore, a coastal erosion control project at Pengkalan Balak, involving an allocation of RM21.5 million, has been implemented. Several ongoing projects include the RM500,000 Pasir Gembur Open Hall, an RM800,000 classroom extension using the Industrialised Building System (IBS) at Pengkalan Balak National School (SK), and a RM1.3 million roof upgrading project at Al-Jawahir Mosque, Pengkalan Balak.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to prioritize the people's welfare alongside physical development. He stated, "From healthcare, education, religious affairs, water supply, and community facilities to protecting coastal areas, we are completing projects one by one according to the people's priorities." He also reported that RM11.94 million has been distributed to 2,512 recipients to alleviate the burdens faced by the residents of Tanjung Bidara.
