Pahang Authorities Urged to Enforce Vape Sales Ban

Pahang: Local authorities in Pahang have been urged to ensure the sale of electronic cigarettes or vapes is halted by early next year. State Islamic Religious Affairs, Rural Development and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad stated that the initiative aligns with the state government's decision to classify electronic cigarettes as haram (forbidden).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the state executive council endorsed the fatwa concerning the prohibition of electronic cigarettes on May 14. This ruling, initially presented to the State Legal Advisor's Office on March 19, has prompted immediate enforcement by the state government.

The Pahang Syariah Legal Consultative Committee has determined that electronic cigarettes are forbidden due to associated health risks and the potential for wastage. Additionally, Pahang Ruler, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, had previously advocated for a comprehensive ban on electronic cigarettes.
