Pahang MB Stresses Seriousness of Racial and Religious Sensitivities

Pahang: Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has emphasised that actions or statements touching on religious and race sensitivities cannot be taken lightly as they have the potential to disrupt the harmony of the society in this country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the statement was made following an incident involving a Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) student who is linked to acts of insulting Prophet Muhammad and the sanctity of the Quran.

Wan Rosdy highlighted that such actions are particularly concerning when they occur during significant periods, such as the holy month of Ramadan. He stressed that any actions or statements related to religious or racial sensitivities can incite tension, undermine societal harmony, and damage the unity that has been long established.

He expressed full confidence in the authorities and the management of UMPSA to investigate and manage the case thoroughly, transparently, and in accordance with existing laws and regulations. Additionally, Wan Rosdy advised the public, particularly the younger generation, to exercise caution in their actions and online sharing to prevent undermining societal harmony.

He urged everyone to avoid actions that could disturb the stability and unity of society, advocating for a spirit of mutual respect, understanding of differences, and upholding values of politeness and tolerance for the well-being of Pahang and the broader country.
