Johor bahru: Some 406 traders in Johor are taking part in the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living's (KPDN) Pasar PATUH Programme at eight selected wet markets to encourage compliance among traders and protect consumers. Johor KPDN, in a statement, said the initiative aims to promote responsible business practices while creating a fair, transparent, and consumer-friendly trading environment.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the approach not only ensures traders follow regulations but also encourages them to make compliance part of their daily business practices. KPDN said the PATUH concept is guided by five main principles to help traders conduct fair and responsible transactions. These include displaying clear prices, using verified weighing equipment, ensuring transparent transactions, practising honesty in business, offering reasonable prices, and avoiding profiteering.
The state-level launch of Pasar PATUH 2026 was held at Pasar Awam Mersing today. The other locations are Pasar Awam Taman Perling, Pasar Awam Kluang, Pasar Maharani, Pasar Awam Batu Pahat, Pasar Kota Jaya, Pasar Awam Pontian, and Pasar Awam Labis. The programme is supported by local authorities (PBT), Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), Johor State Health Department, Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and De Metrology Sdn Bhd to ensure traders comply with the required standards.
"This collaboration shows a shared commitment to creating a more organised trading environment and increasing awareness among traders," the statement added. Consumers are encouraged to report any violations through KPDN's official channels, including WhatsApp at 019-848 8000, the KPDN e-Aduan portal at [email protected], Call Centre 1-800-886-800 or the Ez ADU KPDN mobile application.
