Lubok gong: The recent tightening of controls at the country's entry points has had a positive impact on efforts to curb smuggling and other illegal activities, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among various government agencies to prevent 'leakages and breaches' not only along the borders but also at the country's entry points.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail noted that police were actively assisting agencies such as the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency, Immigration Department, and Customs Department. The Inspector-General highlighted the significance of integrated operations to effectively manage the country's entry points, ensuring the prevention of illegal activities.

During a press conference following his visit to an illegal jetty in Lubok Gong, Rantau Panjang, he mentioned that the police were instructed by the Home Ministry to support relevant agencies in curbing these challenges. The collaboration aims to create a comprehensive approach to securing the nation's entry points.

Additionally, Mohd Khalid commented on the arrest of a local airline pilot in Indonesia for alleged drug smuggling. He stated that the matter has been handed over to Indonesian authorities for further investigation. Reports from July 29 indicate that the 39-year-old Malaysian pilot was detained at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Indonesian authorities reported the seizure of 25 kilogrammes of drugs, which included 15 packages containing 70,114 ecstasy and methamphetamine capsules, valued at RM45 million in the Indonesian market.
