Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is set to expand its 'Pasar Patuh' compliance programme to encompass all public markets in Kuala Lumpur by next year. This initiative is designed to bolster a culture of compliance among businesses, ensuring a trade ecosystem characterized by integrity and transparency.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Sabri Seman, the Kuala Lumpur Director of KPDN, emphasized the programme's role in raising traders' awareness about the importance of adhering to laws, promoting healthy competition, and safeguarding consumer rights and interests. Speaking at a press conference during the programme's launch at the Sungai Besi Public Market, Seman highlighted the strategic choice of Sungai Besi as the pilot market due to its deteriorating infrastructure and declining visitor numbers.
The Kuala Lumpur KPDN, in collaboration with strategic partners such as the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, the Companies Commission of Malaysia, and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Board, has undertaken efforts to rejuvenate the Sungai Besi Public Market. These efforts aim to re-establish the market as a focal point for local residents.
Seman further noted that the programme exemplifies cross-agency collaboration involving the government, industry stakeholders, and consumers, ensuring that each initiative is implemented comprehensively and yields significant impact.
