PDRM Boosts Partnership With Communications Ministry To Tackle Social Media Issues – IGP

Kuala lumpur: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is enhancing its collaboration with the Ministry of Communications to combat false and unlawful information on social media, ensuring national safety and the well-being of citizens. The initiative aims to address the growing challenges posed by digital platforms in maintaining security.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail stated that his meeting with Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil focused on strategies to tackle complex security challenges in the digital era. The discussions highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between the police and the ministry to safeguard the public from misinformation and related threats.

Mohd Khalid emphasized the significance of this collaboration as a priority for PDRM to preserve national and public safety, not only for the present but also for the future. The Communications Minister expressed optimism that the strengthened partnership would effectively address social media issues, leveraging the combined resources and expertise of both entities.

Mohd Khalid, who was appointed as the 15th IGP on June 20, succeeded Tan Sri Razarudin Husain. His leadership marks a continued focus on enhancing security measures in response to the evolving digital landscape.
