MNRB Awards Scholarships to Top SPM Students to Foster Educational Excellence Among B40 Group

Kuala lumpur: MNRB Holdings Berhad (MNRB) continues its commitment to supporting student excellence, particularly among the B40 group, through the MNRB Lestari Cemerlang programme. At the closing ceremony of the programme held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Ungku Aziz today, MNRB awarded scholarships to five of the school's top 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, President and chief executive officer of Malaysian Reinsurance Berhad (Malaysian Re) Ahmad Noor Azhari Abdul Manaf stated that the scholarships, offered through the MNRB Scholarship Fund, bring the total number of recipients under the programme to 15. Out of the total, eight are now serving in various departments within the MNRB Group. He emphasized the scholarship reflects MNRB's commitment to supporting the aspirations of rural students in pursuing higher education.

Ahmad Noor Azhari highlighted the design of the MNRB Lestari Cemerlang programme to help rural schools achieve excellence in various areas, particularly academics. This initiative aligns with MNRB's ongoing efforts to support students in excelling in both academics and co-curricular activities. The programme encompasses a variety of initiatives that support academic excellence and holistic character building for students.

Scholarship recipient Muhammad Zain Hazrey Hamid@Zulkifly, 18, expressed gratitude for the assistance, which he said would ease his mother's financial burden. Muhammad Zain plans to pursue a diploma in accounting at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam and aims to become a certified accountant. He mentioned the potential job opportunity at MNRB that comes with the scholarship.

Meanwhile, another recipient, Nor Aisyah Humairah Rosli, 18, noted that the scholarship would enable her to focus more on her studies without financial concerns, especially as her parents are growing older.

Over the two years of the MNRB Lestari Cemerlang programme at SMK Ungku Aziz, various contributions and sponsorships have been channelled, including academic initiatives such as tuition and additional classes, motivational programmes, and SPM excellence workshops. MNRB also sponsored the MNRB e-Learning Room, equipped with facilities such as a smart TV and a smartboard. Additionally, through its subsidiary Takaful IKHLAS, MNRB sponsored the IKHLAS e-Screening Room, part of the school's upgraded resource centre, equipped with teaching and learning facilities.

At the same event, MNRB's subsidiary, Malaysian Re, contributed through its wakalah (delegated) zakat initiative to upgrade the school surau, further supporting the school community.
