Penang: Penang police are targeting over 3,000 cyclists to participate in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Penang International 2nd Bridge Solidarity Fun Ride on Jan 3, next year. Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the cycling event on the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS) is expected to attract local and foreign participants.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the sixth edition of this iconic night cycling event in Malaysia will illuminate the longest bridge in the country, bringing together thousands of cyclists for a night centered on community and safety. Datuk Azizee Ismail emphasized the event's role in enhancing police-community collaboration through cycling and the accompanying crime prevention campaign. As of now, about 1,000 riders have already registered for the event.
The 52-kilometre ride will commence from the Queensbay Mall shopping centre in Bayan Baru at 9.30 pm. Participants will cycle to the bridge and then return to complete the route at the mall.
