Ipoh: A special committee has been established at both the state and district levels to effectively address bullying issues in Perak schools, ensuring that cases are managed appropriately to prevent unwanted incidents. Perak Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman, Khairudin Abu Hanipah, said the State Education Director chairs the committee, while at the District Education Office (PPD) level, it is chaired by the District Education Officer.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this committee has existed before, but it has been strengthened with the involvement of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the Ministry of Health (KKM), and other agencies. In addition, the 12 PPDs in Perak are now actively monitoring, including carrying out spot checks at school hostels at night to observe prep or evening study activities, Khairudin Abu Hanipah told reporters after meeting 68 participants of the 2025 Mercedes Classic Merdeka Convoy at Dataran Cempaka Sari.
Khairudin stated that this comprehensive approach is crucial to ensure bullying issues are addressed collectively, preventing any form of severe abuse that could lead to tragic incidents. The priority is to ensure students can fully focus on their studies in a safe, harmonious environment free from oppression.
Additionally, Khairudin mentioned that all bullying reports must be addressed appropriately according to the procedures established by the Ministry of Education (MOE). Compliance is ensured through the MOE Circular, with a preliminary report required within one day, a follow-up report within three days, and a full report within seven days. This process must be strictly followed to ensure cases are managed clearly and thoroughly in line with the established guidelines.
