Manjung: The Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 432 14-kilogramme (kg) subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks of various brands that were used without permission at a chicken farm in Segari near Manjung, yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the raid was led by the director of the Perak KPDN, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, and took place at around 6 pm as part of Op Gasak 2025. This operation was based on a week-long intelligence and monitoring effort. The raid uncovered that the LPG cylinders were being utilized for heating purposes in multiple chicken coops without the necessary authorization.
During the operation, a lorry from an LPG supplier was caught in the act of unloading gas tanks into the coop area. Further examination revealed that the LPG was being used for commercial activities without a permit from the Supply Controller.
Two local men, aged 50 and 40, serving as the estate manager and the lorry driver, were detained to aid the investigation. The authorities seized 432 subsidised LPG cylinders, a five-tonne lorry, receipt books, and various documents, with the confiscated items valued at approximately RM76,051.
The estate owner is suspected of breaching the Control of Supplies Regulations (PPKB) 1974 for storing scheduled controlled goods without a permit. Additionally, the LPG supplier involved is under investigation for allegedly violating Regulation 9(2) (PPKB) 1974 by selling scheduled controlled goods to unauthorized parties.
