Kangar: The national-level Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly 2025 will be held from April 27 to May 2 in Perlis. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar announced that the six-day event is scheduled to occur at Dewan Wawasan 2020 in Kangar, running daily from 9 am to 11 pm.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the assembly will feature 112 participants from across the country, with each state represented by eight participants. The participants will be divided into two categories: two for tilawah (recitation) and six for hafazan (memorisation). Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to officiate the opening ceremony on April 27, while the closing ceremony on May 2 will be presided over by the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail.
In September of the previous year, the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) announced Perlis as the host for the event. The information was conveyed by Mohd Na'im to the Regent of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, during an official audience.
