PKR To Hold Special Meeting On Sabah Polls By Month-End – Anwar

Kuala Lumpur: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Political Bureau is set to convene a special meeting, likely on May 29, to strategize for the upcoming Sabah state election. PKR president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the primary focus of the meeting will be to prepare for the electoral process.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted the urgency to conduct the meeting before several party leaders depart for the haj pilgrimage. He expressed his well-wishes for their pilgrimage and emphasized the importance of the meeting, which is planned after the conclusion of the ASEAN and ASEAN-GCC-China Summits.

During his policy speech at the PKR 2024/2025 National Congress, Anwar, who also chairs Pakatan Harapan (PH), revealed ongoing discussions with Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. These discussions aim to ensure a collaborative approach that acknowledges the contributions of PKR and PH, providing them a fair chance to advocate for Sabah's populace.

Anwar, also serving as the Finance Minister, assured that PKR and PH would receive an equitable allocation of state seats in the forthcoming Sabah elections. This assurance aligns with deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar's appeal during the congress for PKR to contest at least 13 seats, urging the president to deliberate with Unity Government coalition partners on this request.
