PM Anwar Provides Financial Aid to Gravedigger Battling Mouth Cancer

Kuala terengganu: A gravedigger who has been suffering from mouth cancer for the past three years has caught the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who extended a donation to the man.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a contribution of RM2,000 in cash was presented to Rosli Abdullah, 52, by the deputy director of the Terengganu Federal Development Department (PPPN), Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM), Azhar Abd Hamid, at the Flat Batas Baru surau here today. Azhar mentioned that the contribution was given by the Prime Minister through the ICU JPM to alleviate Rosli's financial burden and assist with his treatment costs, as he requires surgery in the near future.

Azhar also noted that Rosli is not currently listed as an e-Kasih recipient, despite meeting the criteria for the assistance. Efforts are being made to register him immediately so that he can receive further aid.

Meanwhile, Flat Batas Baru surau deputy chairman Mohd Radzali Mohamad shared that Rosli's health has been deteriorating over the past few months. Rosli, who had been staying at the Flat Batas Baru surau for over 30 years, has been unable to speak for the past month due to swellings in his mouth and right cheek. The condition has also left him unable to eat for two weeks, forcing him to rely on fluids through a tube.

Rosli, who lives alone and is unmarried, had previously undergone surgery twice but now requires immediate surgery once again. His case has been referred by the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan for further surgical intervention.

In addition to his gravedigging work, Rosli had been taking on jobs to clean the surau area, but his worsening health condition has rendered him unable to perform these tasks. Mohd Radzali emphasized that Rosli is entirely dependent on the charity of the management for his livelihood.

Efforts are underway by the mosque management to raise a donation fund to cover Rosli's medical and surgical costs, although the funds collected so far remain inadequate.
