PM Anwar Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Corruption Involvement

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized that the government will not shield any individuals suspected of misconduct or corruption, including former senior political secretary, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil mentioned that Anwar highlighted this commitment during a Cabinet meeting when discussing Shamsul Iskandar's resignation. Fahmi, serving as the MADANI Government spokesman, stated that the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of thorough investigations by authorities like the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), without exceptions.

"The Prime Minister also reminded all Cabinet ministers to consistently monitor their staff and to refrain from protecting anyone involved in misconduct," Fahmi conveyed at a weekly media conference.

Regarding Shamsul Iskandar's position in Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Fahmi indicated that the issue would be addressed at the party's upcoming Central Leadership Council meeting. "Since he recently resigned from his role as senior political secretary, no discussions have taken place within the party about political appointments concerning Shamsul Iskandar," he noted.

Shamsul Iskandar, who holds the role of PKR International Bureau chairman, stepped down from his position amid allegations aimed at damaging the image of the MADANI Government. He reportedly presented himself at the MACC Headquarters to provide his statement about corruption allegations made by businessman Albert Tei.
