Kuala kangsar: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the necessity for students to develop proper conduct, morals, and discipline alongside their pursuit of knowledge in various fields. He articulated that the foundation for producing well-balanced students lies in nurturing individuals through good character and moral values, which should not be overlooked.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar delivered these remarks during the 'Temu Anwar' programme with the community of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) at the Tun Abdul Razak Auditorium. He was joined by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, her deputy Wong Kah Woh, and Perak Education, Higher Education, Youth, and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah.
In his speech, Anwar discussed the Islamic intellectual tradition, where the concept of knowledge extends beyond mastering facts to achieving a deeper understanding known as 'ma'rifah' (true comprehension). He highlighted the importance of evaluating and filtering information to distinguish between information, knowledge, and wisdom.
Anwar, an alumnus of MCKK, having studied there from Form One to Upper Six between 1960 and 1966, also witnessed the presentation of a mock cheque amounting to RM800,000 for upgrading works at the college's Hargreaves Hall.
