PM Anwar To Engage With Malaysians In Global Humanitarian Mission

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to engage with 34 Malaysian participants involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission to Gaza on Sunday. The interaction is aimed at offering support and encouragement.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar stated that the Prime Minister will receive updates on the mission during his visit to the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre at the Malaysian Islamic Consultative Council Central Warehouse. His presence is expected to uplift the spirits of Malaysian volunteers and those from other countries participating in the GSF.

Dr Mohd Na'im mentioned that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had already extended his support, and he himself had conveyed words of encouragement. The Prime Minister's visit is anticipated to significantly motivate the 34 Malaysian volunteers.

Earlier, Dr Mohd Na'im interacted with several Malaysian volunteers and offered prayers for the success of the mission. GSF participant Zizi Kirana expressed her dedication to ensuring the mission's success, aiming to deliver aid to the people of Gaza. Despite challenges, she remains hopeful for the mission's completion.

The mission involves 34 Malaysians currently in international waters near Greece, with plans to enter the yellow zone before reaching Gaza waters by the end of the month. They join activists from 45 countries in an effort to break the siege on Gaza, facing obstacles such as drone attacks.

Malaysia has shown support for the mission, highlighting the Prime Minister's recognition of its importance. The GSF voyage across the Mediterranean Sea is loaded with supplies of food and medicine, advocating for peace and the opening of humanitarian corridors to Gaza.
